50 year reunion of Class of 1955.
Slideshow provided by Ronald J (Jeff Esdaile) AM (Student in 1954 & 1955).
The 50th Reunion of the Year of 1955 at Sydney High School was held on Saturday 3rd September 2005 in the Great Hall at Sydney High School. There were 74 Old Boys and two retired Sydney High School teachers – Jim Rigby and Bill Toft as guests of the Old Boys. Many attendees travelled long distances to attend the Reunion:-
• Stuart Pawsey from California, USA
• Allan Farquhar and Albert Lawrence from Queensland
• Willem Wyhberg from Far North Queensland
• Harvey Cohen, Les Francis and Rob Huxley from Victoria
• Ray Stuart from South Australia
• Ken Wride from Western Australia
• Greg Hinks from Norfolk Island
There were also numerous Old Boys who came from all over regional NSW to attend the evening. Many Old Boys could not attend because they were travelling interstate or overseas at the time of the Reunion and some could not attend because of ill health. Over 50 apologies were received and posted on the notice board at the reunion.
Special thanks go to the people who provided old team photos or personal photos that they have kept. Without them this CD would not have been possible - Bob Colman, Robin Huxley, Geoff King, John King, Grahame Marr, Tony Re, Ben Selinger, Ron Shapiro, Grant Stone, Bill Summers, Ron Warren, Dick Webb. Also thanks to our volunteer photographer, Craig Avery, who took the photos on the night. Craig is not a professional photographer (he’s a sales executive) but the photos are very professional.
Thanks to the Committee members – Bill Avery, Grahame Marr, Grant Stone, Bill Summers and Dick Webb who performed much of the hard work in phoning people to confirm addresses and then following up those who had not replied as well as all the work in booking caterers, organising refreshments, etc.
Finally a big thank you to Sydney High School for providing the venue for the Reunion and to Deputy Headmaster, John Beringer who made the arrangements and organised the tour of the School.
