The Killip Wing was officially opened on Friday, 4 October 1963, by the Hon E Wetherell, MLA, Minister for Education. The building was named after James Hubert Killip, Headmaster 1936-1951, who was himself present at the ceremony.
It housed the library, science laboratories and demonstration rooms and other classrooms and cost more than £120,000.
The Headmaster at the beginning of the ceremony welcomed the official guests, who included the Hon E Wetherell, MLA, Minister for Education; Mr E G Whitlam, MHR; Dr H S Wyndham, CBE, Director-General of Education; Mr A W Stephens, Director of Secondary Education; the Right Hon The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Ald H F Jensen, and Mr J H Killip.
