Class of 1950 - 75 Year Reunion, 2025
DESCRIPTION
Date2025History
Ten members of the Sydney High School Class of 1950 gathered on March 5th at their old School to celebrate their 75 Year Reunion. While it is certainly the oldest High reunion ever, it is also believed to be the first such reunion for any Australian school.
The reunion was organised by David Greatorex AO and hosted by Dr Kim Jaggar OAM, SHS longest serving Principal. Dr Jaggar provided a warm welcome and talked about what has changed at High and what has not. Graham King provided the traditional “occasional reunion address” and the level of engagement was extraordinary as his classmates made several milestone observations throughout his recounting of Class of 1950 achievements both academic and extra curricular. The Class of 1950 expressed their appreciation by making a donation to the School. Attendees were: John Agnew (School Captain), Roger Anderson, John Bosler, David Greatorex AO, Barry Isenberg, Graham King (Vice Captain), Owen Sperling, Keith Walkerden, Dick White OAM, Bill Widerberg. The reunion was followed by a school tour which rekindled more memories of their time at High and what the School meant to them.
Many thanks to Brooke Ashton, SHS Principal’s EA and to Stephanie Francis, SHS Marketing Manager for their contribution to a very emotional and very successful reunion. The world reunion high school record is claimed by USA Salem High School Class of 1944, when six members attended their 80th reunion in 2024. This clearly provides some motivation for the Class of 1950 for their 80 year reunion in 2030, not that this group of Old Boys need any further motivation
