Swimming.
A short time since a swimming club was formed in connection with the Sydney High School. On Friday afternoon the first race, 66yd handicap, was held at the Natatorium Baths, Pitt-street. The 22 starters were divided into four heats, the third proving by far the most interesting. In this heat three of the four starters finished within a foot of each other. The starters in the final heat were: D. Irons, 25sec, 1; A. Heane, 20sec, 2; S. Wickham, 10sec, 3; and J. Mackenzie, 16sec, 4. The scratch man, B. Forsyth, secretary of the club, was just beaten in his heat. The race was swum under the supervision of Mr. A. M'Coy, the president of the club. It is proposed to hold a sports meeting, when an all-schools champion and a public schools champion will form part of the programme.
