Early speech days and prize-givings, 1884-1908

Collection of newspaper account of speech days and annual prize-givings in the years before The Record commenced publication in 1909. Such occasions were irregularly held, particularly in the headmastership of Joseph Coates, who was personally opposed to giving lavish prizes, such as books.
