The Australian Star, 5 September 1907, p 7:
The twenty-second annual sports meeting of the Sydney High School was held on the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday afternoon, in the presence of a very fair attendance, considering that the meeting had not been advertised sufficiently to secure the attendance of the general public.
Several of the events were decided on Tuesday afternoon, mostly field sports, such as kicking the football, &c.
E. A. Southee won the 100 yards school championship, and also the school's championship cup for the best all-round athlete. Southee defeated Todd, last year's winner of the championship, in the 100 yards event, and throughout the afternoon a close contest resulted for the championship cup between the pair. When the 220 yards championship was due for decision great excitement prevailed, as Todd was in the lead by two points. Southee won the event, however, and led Todd by a point when both started for the mile. Neither finished, however, as the high jump and other field events had taken too much out of them. Southee thus secured the championship of the school. Both lads placed very creditable performances to their names, as results will show.
A great race ensued for the 220 yards all-schools' fixture. Leadley won, with Barker a close second.
